In many cases, high-speed chases are not going to bring about any good stories, but this one certainly does. It happens when an officer was involved in a high-speed chase on the highway. His name is Sgt. Brian Hickman, and he is from the El Reno Police Department. He chased the car and eventually, was able to catch up with it. The suspect was arrested but his 10-year-old black lab mix, Athena, ran from the car onto a busy highway.
There is no doubt that the adrenaline is rushing when a police officer goes through such an ordeal, but Sgt. Hickman did hesitate to help the wayward dog. He found Athena in the middle of a highway. She had been injured after being struck by a car. He stopped traffic with the help of another officer and they put the dog in the patrol car to take her to safety. She is now healing nicely and will soon be put up for adoption.
We live in a world where we often hear bad news about police officers but the fact of the matter is, the majority of them are out there to protect and serve. Obviously, they not only protect us, they protect animals as well.
