Fred Astaire Steals The Oscars Stage With Amazing Performance Aged 71

They say that once you learn to ride a bike, you never forget how to, and I would imagine this applies to a number of things in life. For people who have made a career out of dancing for example, I doubt they ever forget how to perform those amazing moves, and I would also imagine they are inspired by music on a daily basis.

Of all the famous dancers in the world, probably the most famous male dancer was Fred Astaire. His legendary performances with Ginger Rogers are still famous to this day, even though their biggest movies were made over 60 years ago.

During the 1970’s Oscar show Bob Hope was presenting with the amazing Fred Astaire, who it has to be said at the age of 71 still looked very dapper and handsome. Hope asked him if he still danced to which he replied, “No I gave that up last year, some things can’t go on forever.” But there was absolutely no way that Hope had any intention of letting Astaire leave without a dance performance, and he tells the conductor to “Hit It.” The stage cleared and we are transported back years as Astaire pulls off the most amazing dance routine. If you didn’t know he was 71 years old you would never have guessed. I guess it is like riding a bike, watch the video below and marvel as the class and elegance of this dancing heavyweight
