12 Missing Marines Identified

After a helicopter crash in Hawaii that involved 12 marines, 4 officers and 8 enlisted men have been identified. They have been missing since their two CH-53 heavy lift helicopters crashed Thursday night off the coast of Oahu, Hawaii. High surf warnings have hampered search and rescue efforts, as they have had to battle waves up to 30 feet high.

According to initial reports, the helicopters collided in flight but the incident is still being estimated. The Marines were assigned to the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, based out of Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.
