Silent Monks “Sing” Hallelujah

This is an oldie but a goldie. This is what happens when high school students wonder how monks would put on a Christmas concert if they were all under a vow of silence. Monks have for a long time been a source for jokes and parody by nonmembers of their group.

South Kitsap High School Vocal Music of Port Orchard, WA, give a great rendition of “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah without ever uttering a word. They use hooded tunics and we never see their faces. With the right phrasing, using syllables instead of full words, they brilliantly match the meter of the song.
