You don’t have to hang out on social media very long to hear something about tipping. It seems to be such a controversial subject and many of the videos you see on TikTok are either about someone complaining that they are not getting the appropriate tip and others complaining because too many people are asking for tips.
Tipping is a part of the culture in the United States and like it or not, the waiters and waitresses depend on your tips to make ends meet. This isn’t their fault, but it is the fault of the restaurant if they decide not to pay them a living wage.
It is also something that, at times, leads to a very beautiful experience. After all, tipping is not mandatory and sometimes, somebody may give an extra large tip, just to show their appreciation.
This happened when a customer gave a pregnant waitress a tip that was so large, she broke down in tears. The moment was captured on camera when the man asked the server to tell him what the largest gratuity she had ever received was.
When she told him $100, she didn’t know that he was going to beat that amount. But he did much more than that. He got together with his friends at the table and they were prepared to give her a $1300 tip.
She was told that she would have to share the tip with the cooks in the kitchen but $1000 of the tip was for her to take home. The server got the cash and began crying right away. She didn’t even want to accept it at first.
Through tears, she said that she couldn’t take it because it was too much money.
