The people that visited the Memphis Zoo watching a reticulated giraffe give birth witnessed a wonderful moment they will never forget. When the baby came out, it fell to the ground and laid pretty lifeless. With a little coaxing from Mom the baby stands up and walks around.
22-year-old female giraffe “Marilyn” and male giraffe “Kenya” are now the proud parents of Kenzie, the Zoo’s newest arrival. According to the zookeepers, the birth went just right and the baby seems to be doing fine. There are currently less than 8,000 reticulated giraffes in the world.
