Most of us have wondered, at some time or another, what it would be like to step in a time machine and visit the past. It certainly would be amazing to see how people lived back then and to see firsthand what is usually only covered in history books. Something similar to stepping into a time machine occurred when a man named Oliver Choppin-Janvryit discovered a flat in Paris in 2010. He learned that it is had not seen by the outside world since it was locked in 1940.
The woman who owned the apartment had relocated from Paris at the first rumblings of World War II. She left so quickly that she left all of her possessions in place and continued to pay rent, even though she was not living in the apartment. As it turns out, she never returned to Paris again and ended up dying at the age of 91 in 2010.
Appraisers arrived at the apartment to see what was inside and they realized what a remarkable discovery was in front of them. It was like looking at a time capsule, from the way that the apartment was decorated all the way down to a Mickey Mouse toy from before World War II started. The most amazing discovery, however, was a painting and you will not believe what it was worth.
