There are many incredible stories coming out of the Olympics this year and the athletes are doing their part to show they are more than simply competitors, they are compassionate. Of course, they are all after the ultimate prize and they want to bring home the gold medal for their country, but along the way, they are doing some amazing things. Those players are also standup individuals, even when the Olympics are not in force.
During the Hopman Cup in Perth, Australia, one of the top US players did something that you are not going to believe. His name is Jack Sock, and he defended his competitor in the competition. As unlikely as it may sound, this 23-year-old man told his competitor that he should challenge a decision by the umpire.
Jack could’ve allowed his opponent to be penalized for something he didn’t do, but it really shows his level of humanity. Incidentally, he went on to win the gold medal in the Olympics, and we couldn’t be happier for him.
