There is an unspoken rule that many of us live by in life. When we are around strangers, we try to avoid contact at all times. Even a brief look into an individual’s eyes can end up making you feel uncomfortable, and it may make them feel uncomfortable as well. That is why this video was really intriguing to me, because I couldn’t understand the concept, until I saw it!
The question is, how often do you make eye contact with strangers? Looking into an individual’s eyes is something that is often reserved for intimate relationships, such as best friends or family. A psychologist known as Arthur Aron, however, set out to see what could happen if this unspoken rule were broken. He suggested that strangers maintain eye contact for 4 minutes to see what would happen.
For this experiment, a bunch of complete strangers were brought together and they had to maintain sustained eye contact for 4 minutes. When the experiment was over, you will be amazed with what happens and more than likely, you will shed a tear.
