Olga Korbut And Her Incredible Flip In The 72 Olympics

There is nothing quite like watching a skilled gymnast in action but from time to time, a gymnast will go over the top with what they are doing. That is the case with what took place in the 1972 Olympics, when Olga Korbut had her turn on the uneven bars. The level of determination and skill that she showed is nothing short of amazing.

Admittedly, there are many different gymnastic routines and all of them have the ability to keep me on the edge of my seat. It doesn’t matter if you’re talking about the balance beam, floor routines or the uneven bars, it is always thrilling to watch someone who truly knows what they are doing. I’m sure that you agree, however, that there are times when somebody steps up and does something that truly shines.

In the 1972 Olympics, Olga Korbut, a Soviet gymnast, did something rather unusual on the uneven bars. As if it wasn’t difficult enough to do a “regular” routine, she did a flip 10 seconds into the her routine that has even been named after her. Although she only won the silver metal that year, it is a moment in Olympic history that the world will never forget.
