As we get older, we often tend to slow down in the things that we are doing. As a younger individual, we may have been quite active and taking part in sports, such as running, hiking or skating. Due to the fear of falling down and hurting ourselves or perhaps breaking a bone, many of us tend to avoid those activities when we get older.
Of course, not everybody is going to avoid those activities and at times, a person may continue to do them with style. That is the case with Yvonne Dowlen, a 90-year-old woman who still manages to get out on the ice and skate five days a week. She was in the Ice Capades as a younger woman but she never officially retired from figure skating.
Some people may be concerned over the possibility that you Yvonne would injure herself on the ice. Although it is possible, the fact that she is still physically active is a positive thing in her life. Studies have shown that individuals who stay active are less likely to have osteoporosis, so she may just be healthier than you and me.
