Cigarette butts are the most littered item in the U.S.A. – we see them everywhere. People throw cigarette butts to the ground, stomp on them and leave them there. Over two million cigarette butts were recently collected globally in a single year. Cigarette butts account for around 13% of the litter on Texas highways.
Thanks to Terracycle, an innovative company that started this project, cigarette butts will be put to a better use. Their goal is to spread awareness of environmental issues. Gigarette filters are made of wood-based plastic fiber that take more than a hundred years to fully decompose.
