Many of us are going through our own difficulties and we may keep them to ourselves, even though we are struggling. At times, however, it helps to talk to somebody else and to explain to them what you are going through. That was what Deanna decided to do, as she discussed her problems with a coworker. The thing is, he wasn’t who she thought he was.
Deanna works for The Coffee Bean, and she credits the company for saving her life and helping her to turn it around. The CEO of the company, John Fuller, got in a disguise to go undercover so he could learn more about his employees. He wore a white wig and hat and he was posing as Deanna’s trainee. As it turns out, he was also playing the part of a horrible employee but she was patient and calm with him.
When she confided in him about her struggles, including her fight with liver cancer and the fact that her father had recently died, he took it to heart. When it was over, he gave her $20,000 and set up a $40,000 college fund for her 2 children. He also helped her to get her high school diploma and gave her $10,000 upon completion. We could all use a boss like this.
