In Utah, it’s not out of the ordinary for men to trap Bobcat in the wilderness. They may do everything on the up and up but occasionally, a different type of animal is going to be caught in their trap. That was the case recently when a cougar got caught in a Bobcat trap and as you can imagine, he wasn’t very happy!
Many animals that are caught in such a trap are going to suffer a very unfortunate fate. At times, they may die as a result of being caught in the trap but at other times, they could actually free themselves by chewing through their own leg. Fortunately, for this cougar, such a fate was unnecessary.
Thanks to the quick thinking of some conservation officers, this cougar was able to get a fresh chance. They also managed to catch the entire scene on video, so you can appreciate what they did. When you consider the fact that they were only armed with blankets and catchpole’s and the cougar was quite angry, it really is a tremendous feat. I was feeling anxious just watching the scene, so I couldn’t imagine what it felt like to actually be there.
