We may have a pet dog for a wide variety of reasons, and each of us has our own particular reason why a dog is in our family. For some of us, it is companionship and the fact that dogs provide us with unconditional love. At other times, it may be for a degree of protection, and they certainly can make us feel safe when they are around.
Sometimes, dogs go above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to providing protection. That is the case with Patch, who lived with his human parents, Nola and Richard Davis along with their two children. The parents almost found the dog another home because he was getting so large, but the children won out in the end. It’s a good thing that they did.
Nola was taking a bath when Patch came in and began chewing on her wrist as if he was trying to get her attention. At first she thought it was rather strange but when she looked out into the bedroom, she saw that it was on fire! This is just another reason why a dog is a good idea.
