The Subways Are Crowded In Japan So They Hire People To Shove Everyone In

There are many people must deal with rush hour traffic on a daily basis. It seems as if all of us tend to go to work at the same time, and the roads are absolutely packed full of vehicles. There also many of us who travel on the subway systems, and we may find it convenient in some cases. As you are about to see, however, rush hour can also be quite frustrating on the subways, especially when they are as overcrowded as they are in Japan.

In this video, people are boarding the subway in Tokyo and the trains are absolutely full. It is still necessary for everyone to get on board, so the Japanese have come up with a rather ingenious way to do so. They hire workers, known as Oshiya. Their sole purpose is to shove everyone on board to pack the cars as full as possible.

Since this video was taken, there have been improvements in the Japanese subway system and it is not typically necessary to take these measures. That being said, I still wonder if I would ever even try to get on board one of these trains. I’d rather be late for work.
