Violinist Covers Michael Jackson Song, Possibly Better Than The Original

Two things you might never put together would be Michael Jackson and the violin. One will always be known as the king of pop music, and the other is quite possibly the instrument most people would associate with classical music.

And yet in this musical mash-up, that’s exactly what happens, and dare I say it, the new version could be even better than the original. Alex DePue who is the violinist brave enough to take on this challenge began his love affair with the violin at the tender age of 5 years of age. By the time, he was 10 he had won his first competition, and at 14, the NYC Carnegie Hall was a regular location where he could be heard performing. He loves all styles of music and so it comes as no surprise that he enjoys and wants to spend time dabbling in other genres.

In this clip, he takes Smooth Criminal and transforms it into a classical masterpiece. I am not a real fan of the violin, but I would seriously consider going to watch this guy in concert, he is both great to listen to and very entertaining. Whether you are a Michael Jackson fan or not, watch this video and prepare to be amazed.
