Police Officer Who Was First Responder To Child Who Died Attends His Funeral Dressed As Spiderman

Being a police officer can be demanding both physically and mentally. The worst situation for any police officer to find themselves involved in is when having to deal with the death of, or a dying child, in which they are effectively helpless. Even though logically the police officer knows, there was nothing he could have done to save the child’s life, it doesn’t remove the feelings of guilt and sadness.

Early last month, a little boy named Joshua had been reported to police as missing by his frantic mother. He was only five years old, and unfortunately, little Joshua was later found drowned in a backyard in Fort Worth Texas. Officer Cole who discovered Joshua and pulled him from the water was understandably very touched and affected by the incident and was prepared to do anything to assist Joshua’s family.

When he pulled Joshua out of the water, Officer Cole noticed that he was wearing a Spiderman T-Shirt, and Spiderman sneakers. Spiderman it transpires was Joshua’s favourite superhero. After a chat with the family Officer Cole agreed to attend the funeral wearing a full Spiderman outfit, in order that Joshua could have his favourite superhero with him right until the end. This is a very sad story, but a touching gesture by the very special police officer.
