Deaf Student’s Backpack Is Thrown In A Toilet By Bullies And His Mum Takes Him Out Of School

Most of us recognise that there is a serious problem with bullying in many schools. At times, it can get so severe that the parents must take preventative measures to ensure that their children are kept safe. That was the case for Alex Hernandez, who was deaf since he was one year old. Due to scars from surgery and a cochlear implant, he had lost his hearing and was bullied as a result of his disability throughout his life.

One day, while he was in high school, he noticed that his backpack and other school supplies were missing. It included his homework, his tablet, money and a battery for his cochlear implant. School security footage was reviewed and two teenage boys were seen stealing it and dumping it in the toilet.

After the picture of the backpack in the toilet was put online, it went viral. There were many people who supported him but he and his mother made a tough decision. They transferred him to a different high school, as they thought it was the best decision to help him stay safe.
