Police Officer Goes Above And Beyond To Reunite A Mother With Her Dead Son’s Vehicle

Police officers get such a bad rap, and yet day after day they put their lives on the line to protect us. This story, however, has nothing to do with protection or danger and everything to do with a police officer going above and beyond and showing humanity and kindness. It will touch your heart and make you feel warm and special inside.

Sometimes tragedy can strike a family time and time again. For Candida a lady from California that’s exactly what happened. First of all, in 2011, her 21-year-old son Jose was killed on active duty in Iraq. One of the last things she owned that belonged to him was his 2009 Nissan Cube, which he had purchased with his salary from the army. Candida drove the vehicle every day until in 2015, she had an accident where the car was written off by the insurance company.

The police officer who responded to the accident noticed that the number plate had a gold star on it, which signifies the owner of the car has lost a family member who served in the military. The officer John Baggs knew exactly how that felt as he had lost his own father in Vietnam. He took a special interest in the car and when it was written off unbeknown to Candida, he bought the car and set about repairing it, with the help of some other automobile experts. This video shows Candida at a Veterans Day ceremony. All of a sudden John taps her on the shoulder and points her eyes in a different direction. Coming towards her is her old car, all fixed up and totally gleaming. There isn’t a dry eye in the house as Candida gets her beloved son’s vehicle back. You will end up crying when you watch this one, I can guarantee it.
