When we think of Dove products, we typically think about their beauty line, such as soap or shampoo. This viral video, however, shows that they are much more than a company that provides us with products to keep us clean. They wanted to show us that beauty was more than skin deep and the way that they did it was absolutely amazing.
An experiment was conducted in which they sat men down to compare their reaction when they were shown various pictures. The men were strapped to heart monitors so their emotional response could be measured. They were then shown pictures of models as well as pictures of their loved ones. As the pictures were shown, they were asked to describe their feelings and thoughts.
The models they were shown were described as pretty, perfect or perhaps even unfriendly. It wasn’t too surprising to hear that type of response but then they decided to surprise the men. They started showing them pictures of women and girls that they actually knew and were asked to describe their thoughts. The results of this unique experiment can be seen in this video.
