I grew up across the road from the beach and there were many times when I wanted to go out clamming. But it wasn’t long before you realise that this is tough hard work, and in actual fact there is very little fun, and generally not a great deal of end product. As a youngster, this then means that you give up quite easily, a little frustrated and fed up.
Now if only I had known about this amazing trick, my expeditions may have been a lot more productive and certainly more enjoyable, and all I would really have needed was a big tub of salt. This is almost like one of those magic tricks, that you have to see to believe. Apparently, and I find this really strange considering that they live in the sea, clams are extremely sensitive to salinity. So provided you can work out where the clams are hiding, once you pour some salt on top of that location, they instantly surface.
This is certainly a trick you could share with your kids, and maybe the next time you all visit the beach it could be a great family discussion point and lesson. Hope you enjoy this magical video.
