This Advert Has Been Banned By Two Television Companies – You’ll Be Furious When You Discover Why

As I write this post I am simmering with anger. If what the company says is true, and I have no reason to disbelieve them then we have hit a new low in how the television companies treat women. Once again women and their bodies are being objectified for advertising purposes and when a company tries to celebrate the larger sized woman, the television companies ban the advert.

Lane Bryant is a clothes company that specialises in clothing for larger sized women. They created a sophisticated advert in black and white showcasing some oversized models wearing naturally enough their clothes. They advert is tasteful and whilst it may show a lot of skin, it’s certainly no more provocative or risqué than many of the other adverts we have become accustomed to featuring slim scantily clad models.

The ad highlights the actual reasons for a woman’s body to exist, including breastfeeding and mobility, not as some sort of perfect body for a partner to drool over. And yet apparently the television companies have refused to air it. Both ABC and NBC have banned the advert. I don’t know what possible reason they could have for this but I feel this needs to be highlighted and discussed. Please watch the video below and share it with your friends, and then please comment to show your feelings on this matter.
