He Steps On The Dance Floor, Even Though He Can’t Hear. When The Song Starts? My Jaw Hit The Ground!

To go on Dancing With The Stars, I think it requires a certain amount of bravery and guts. For the majority of people you are stepping outside of your comfort zone, and you run a real risk of making a total fool of yourself if you forget the move or perhaps even worse if you have no rhythm.

So what about going on the show when you are totally deaf? That is a really gutsy thing to take on and to even attempt; it shows great effort and commitment. And yet that is exactly what Nyle Dimarco did, when he appeared on season 22 of the popular show. And not only did he compete, he actually was the top scorer of that episode with a score of 23/30. Not a bad effort at all, it has to be said.

When he was asked about his performance he was able to tell everyone, that miraculously he can’t hear anything, nor even feel the vibrations. He simply follows his partners movements with his eyes, and that way he knows exactly what to do. When you think about this it is really rather remarkable, and yet his biggest concern is not for himself. Whilst he says he obviously didn’t want to make a fool of himself, he was more concerned about people’s perception of dead people, and he didn’t want others thinking that deaf people couldn’t dance. What a remarkable man, and what a remarkable performance. Never mind being afraid of making a fool of himself, he showed the world exactly what he is capable of, well done.
